Hazel Robinson Conwell, 80, of Roanoke Rapids died Friday, September 19, 2008, at Wake Medical Center.

Mrs. Conwell was a native of Halifax County, the daughter of the late Eugene William Robinson and Geneva Cox Robinson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rueben Thomas Conwell and two brothers, Harold Robinson and William Robinson.

Mrs. Conwell is survived by one daughter, Kathy Little and her husband, Johnny, of Roanoke Rapids; three sons, Steven Larry Conwell, Sr. and his wife, Marie, of Farmville, VA, Forrest Wayne Conwell and his wife, Marcia, of Gainsville, FL and Randy T. Conwell of Roanoke Rapids; seven grandchildren, Steven L. Conwell, Jr., Mark Conwell, Gina Conwell, Shannon Williams, Michael King, Trey King, and Misty Harrison; ten great-grandchildren; one aunt, Louise Moseley of Roanoke Rapids; several nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Jackie Robertson and her husband, Grady, of Weldon and Ginger Hux and her husband, Ray, of Roanoke Rapids; a special nephew, Billy Robinson and his wife, Ora Mae, of TN; and her special caregiver, Stephanie Cain.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends on Monday, September 22, 2008 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Steven L. Conwell, Sr. and Rev. Rick Gaskins officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
